All the major Australian airlines have their own frequent flyer programs that you can use to upgrade flights, get free flights and even buy things.

Everyone knows that you can get points by flying or using a credit card but very few people know that you can also get points by just shopping online. Currently, the way you need to get access to these points is by

  1. Visit the Qantas Points online more or the frequent flyer programs website
  2. Find the store you want to buy from and then click the link
  3. Make sure you are logged in to the frequent flyer program and follow the link through to eventually being on the page that allows you to buy

But this isn’t how people shop, people are already on the site they have added stuff to their bag, they don’t want to have to go through the process of going to the Points mall’s online site, searching to see if the store is a part of the program, find the link, click through.

This is why a lot of people don’t know about it, or use it. Think about it every time you shop at hundreds of retailers you could be earning 1-7 points for every dollar you spend. If you are like me and you do your grocery shopping online, you buy clothes, electronics online you could be earning enough points for a free flight to Sydney or Melbourne or Brisbane or an upgrade.

If you are already shopping online, you are leaving these points on the table.

So in the video below, we will build a quick tool using Zapier Push to allow us to click a button when we are on a website in our chrome tab – which will send us an email to click through. Once you click the link your page will refresh, with everything still in the basket and you will be able to collect those points if you finalise your purchase.

When creating this process the most time-consuming part is getting a copy of all of the url’s. In the video, I show you how to capture it but I have gone through and captured about 50 of Qantas’s URL’s.

If you go the link below, fill in your details I will send you

  1. Google sheet of the URL’s
  2. Diagram of the zapier workflow  so it is easy for you to copy
